All times Pacific. The countdowns are computed in your browser from each job's cron expression. This page knows when a job is due, not whether it ran or what it found; that record is private, and the jobs send a message only when a person needs to act. What each job does.
About
Fourteen years of software, and a habit of quiet systems
I have been writing software for 14 years, across medical imaging, optical networks, network security and now financial services. At my current job I own a .NET and Angular application from design to release, and I was the first engineer there to bring in AI-assisted development.
Outside work I build systems that run on a schedule on a small Linux server I host myself. They stay quiet while things are fine and send a message when a person needs to act. The one that sees the most real use runs the online side of a bakery in Los Gatos; its schedule is the panel above.
Featured work
The online side of a bakery, run from a Raspberry Pi
La Bouchée, a made-to-order French bakery in Los Gatos
I built its website in December 2024 and have run the technical side of the business since. The site is at labouchee.us; the part you cannot see is a set of scheduled jobs on a Raspberry Pi that keep it found, listed and watched.
-
Search, on a monthly cycle
A pipeline reads Google Search Console data, proposes changes to specific pages and opens them for review as pull requests. On the 15th, every change that has been live six weeks or more gets a verdict: worked, no effect, or worse.
-
Google listings
The Merchant Center catalogue is refreshed daily and checked against each page's price and availability. New reviews get a drafted reply, and a weekly Business Profile post is drafted with a product photo.
-
Monitoring
A watchdog checks the site every 30 minutes: key pages, the quote form, the certificate and the sitemap. A problem opens a ticket and recovery closes it.
-
Turned off on purpose
An order pipeline that read the inbox and had an AI agent classify each order was measured against real outcomes and switched off. The case study says why.
For businesses
Want this for your business?
I help small businesses with three things: a fast website, showing up on Google and in AI assistants, and automating the repetitive parts of the week. Email me with what takes up your time, and I will tell you plainly what is worth automating and what is not.
- Website
A fast website
A page for each thing you sell, a quote form, and structured data so search engines and AI assistants read it correctly.
- Visibility
Found on Google
Search Console, Business Profile and Merchant Center, set up and kept current, with changes judged afterwards by whether they worked.
- Automation
The week, automated
Monitoring that opens and closes its own tickets, scheduled reports, and drafts that wait for your approval.
